P.S. by Rev. Staci

Dear Family,

I would like to express much love and gratitude to Patty for last Sunday. Her voice and song choices are always perfect. She and Dave are always generous with their talent and passion as musicians. This past Sunday Patty gave us all the gift of remembering our own beloved, Pattie Montgomery, who made her transition last year. We have a beautiful teaching and philosophy in that we know that each of us are immortal beings. That knowingness is beautiful when we think of our loved ones that have transitioned. However, sometimes we just miss the physical presence of our friends and family members.

It has been my observation that sometimes as Religious Scientists that we may feel as though grieving is not what we “should be doing”. The Book of Joy is the book that I spoke about this past Sunday and let me share with you what it taught me about sadness and grief. It states that grief is the reminder of the depth of our love and when we feel that aching come over us it is simply a reminder of the beauty of that love that is no longer physically with us.

This week practice being vulnerable and owning who and what you are as human beings as well as spiritual beings. Realize that if you are feeling sad or grieving that it is part of our make-up and remember there is joy just on the other side. If you are struggling with believing that, please give me a call. Thank you again to Patty and Pattie for the gifts of who you are.

P.S. from the Rev’s

Dear Family,

Thanks to all of you who made it to our Easter Extravaganza! It was wonderful celebrating the phenomenon we call ‘Jesus’. Whether you personally celebrate Jesus as a person or a Principle; as the Exception or the example; or as the Savoir or great master teacher, there is no doubt that Jesus has influenced the collective consciousness of our planet in a most profound way!

Also, a big ‘shout-out’ to Patty Powers (and Dave, too!) and Kitty Schuler for their beautiful spirit-filled music – you really made our Easter program very special! Wait, one more ‘thank you’, and that goes to our very own Easter Bunny, Allana Huntley, who hid all of the eggs for our Easter Egg Hunt with such ‘trickery’ and precision!

We also wanted to take a moment to tell you about something very special that is happening behind the scenes at the Center. After many years of classes, homework, and practical application, the following students are in their final weeks of formal classes and are diligently preparing to take their Practitioner Final Written Exam on May 20, 2017.

And then in early summer, they will be sitting before a panel of ministers and practitioners for their Oral Panels. Please pray for our Practitioner Interns: Gary Alaimo, Victoria Cavaricci, Mary Jo Clark, Kim Czerwonky, Judith Disano-Cunningham and Gina Giordano as they prepare for these exciting events in their lives!

We hope you are enjoying our wondrous spring weather, and look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

Forgiveness

Jim Thomson, RScP

My thoughts for this week centered around Rev. Dan’s revelation regarding Christ asking God to forgive those who were carrying out his death sentence, the whole idea of forgiveness even for those who spite you or in this case are out to murder you.

Ernest Holmes in the Science of Mind Textbook, page 457 quotes Matt18:21,22.

“Jesus clearly explains the meaning of divine forgiveness. He says that we should forgive until seventy times seven.  But this is another way of saying that forgiveness is eternal and ever available. What a load is dropped from the shoulders of personal responsibility when we realize that the Eternal Mind holds naught against anyone.  But, to those who feel that this is unfair, it will be a hard saying. “What,” says one, “are not my virtues to be rewarded above those who have none?” O, foolish one and blind, what do you know about virtue?

Jim Thompson, RScP
Jim Thompson, RScP

Has your life always been beyond reproach? Have you never fallen short of the divine calling? Who are you to point the finger of scorn at your brother? The man who feels self-righteousness rise from his petty virtues lives a life of self-delusion.”

Jesus reminded them in another verse that if you are without sin then you can cast the first stone. Well, we know how that played out…
But that’s not the point here. The point is in order for true Spiritual Healing to take place one must learn to forgive not only others but yourself. This is something that may be the most difficult yet enlightening task in our lives.

To love ourselves enough to forgive each of our mistakes and misgivings, including judgment and fear. These are the key things that keep us wallowing in our own self-pity, and clog up the works for us to move forward.

So this week I do challenge each one of us to start a forgiveness journal and along with it maybe a gratitude journal. So you, too, can begin the healing process. Start with yourselves and move forward to anyone you may have a grievance with or a situation that doesn’t sit well. Find the love in it. Find the lesson in it. Find GOD in all things!

 Peace and Blessings.

P.S. by Rev. Staci

Dear Family,

Have you all noticed how high the energy has been lately at our Center? It always feels good here, but lately the energy has shifted to a higher level.

One of things last week that continued that shift was the power talk that our member Annie Wolff gave. Thank you Annie for taking the time to teach us about Passover. I so enjoy learning about various cultures/religions. The video (Uptown Passover) was just so much fun! “Don’t be slavin’ Just Nosh!”

Then our own Minister Emeritus, Rev Wanda’s shared her experience and words of wisdom about “The Science of the Absolute”. It was truly a great day!

I am trusting that my colleagues and I will bring that same high energy along with great music and all the love and joy that is always present when we are together and we will have the best Easter celebration yet.

Peace and Blessings,

Rev Staci
